This is an interesting question, because there are thousands and thousands of people who think they are safely on their way to heaven, but who actually live outside of the Holy Spirit's lane lines, but rather live more in line to the flesh.

Many people have "asked Jesus into their hearts", when they were kids, or as teenagers as part of a confirmation class. Lots of adults may have come forward at an evangelistic cursade or prayed a prayer as part of a one-on-one witnessing encounter.

The problem is after all this, some show no apparent change in walking according to the flesh, to walking according to the Spirit. Their lives have effectively denied and deceived them about their eternal destiny.

Does there need to be enough proof you are what you say you are, to really be called Christian? This is not a discussion about good works, deeds, etc. those are filthy rags as the Bible states (ISA 64:6).
