Hi...I'm new here....

Postby maryc3 » Wed Apr 04, 2007 8:27 am

on 5/5 I will be married 28 years.
On 4/18 my husband will have been gone from our home 2 years.

I am a faithful wife.
I want my marriage to be made new.....
I have been waiting...
I sense the time to stop waiting and do something is coming up...but I do not know what God's will for me is at this time....
So I am searching for help.

Welcome - we are glad you have come to GT community.

I've been married for 30 years and I couldn't imagine not having my husband beside me. We were high school sweethearts. This has to be so very hard for you.

There is a wonderful book by Dr. James Dobson called Love Must Be Tough that I believe would be very helpful to you.

Reconciliation works two ways. Is he willing to work any further at your marriage? If not, he has abandoned you and your marriage.

If you have peace about your decisions and through prayer, then God is in the midst of your decisions. If you are still in turmoil or anxiety, then continue to wait. Turmoil and anxiety do not co-exist with God.

I just finished reading Love Must Be Tough.

My dh (dear husband) does not talk about 'us'.
He visits the children ( 5 under 18 ) 2 or 3 times a month and brings his support check twice a month.

I have reason to suspect a woman 'friend'.
My son caught him in a 'hug' in a park gazebo with a woman when dh first left.
Dh ,of course said, she was just a friend.
But I know very little about his life since he left our home.

All counseling I find is very expensive.
I work 2 jobs and can't afford counseling.

Hi Mary-- welcome.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation.

Two years is a long time...

• Do you still have contact with your husband?
• What does he say about the marriage?

There are many non-profit agencies that offer counseling for free or at reduced rates. It's takes a little legwork with phone calls to county/local agencies in your area, but it would be worth the effort.

Also, many counselors have associates who are in the midst of their clinicals. They also will counsel at reduced rates.

Another idea is to counsel with your pastor. Or, your pastor may have counseling referrals who offer reduced rates or may counsel you for free with your circumstances.

I would say your suspicions about another woman are right on target - unfortunately.
