drug addicted teen

Postby ineedjesus » Wed May 07, 2008 7:01 am

My teen is so addicted to pot that he just recently got arrested for selling and he is also addicted to porn. The school is having me pick up homework for him to keep his grades up, so I have to leave him home by himself all day long doing God only know what. I am so hurt and scared, and unfortunately I am married and he is unable or not willing to help me. I need some ideas....anybody??

Have you considered looking into a treatment program for him?
You cannot be a 24 hour a day police monitor. And, this young man really is crying out for help. Being home by himself is not the answer.
Has he been suspended from school?

I have lifted you and your family up in prayer this morning.
In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other's spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out. - Ephesians 6:18

There are a lot of social services agencies out there that can provide help to you -- some are Christian and some are secular. There are counselors who can come to your home.

Babycakes is right -- having your son at home alone is a recipe for disaster.
May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

My prayers goes out to you and for your teen. I have a troubled teen as well so I can identify. She's not doing drugs but she has been stealing and is dealing with clergy abuse 7 months ago but is now in counseling.

Try gleening info from:
http://christianteens.about.com/od/pare ... Center.htm

Your local Child Guidance Counseling Center may have resources. Also ask your son's school is there a Full Service School Resource facility and ask the school for a referral. There are a lot of programs and some are free, just have to keep searching them out. Things will not get well by themselves.

For yourself, look for the Women's Community Center for counseling dealing with your son's addiction. They are wonderful if you have one nearby.

REmember this too shall pass. God is able to do it. We do our part and He will do his part.

Give yourself and hug and say, "Self I love you!" Sometimes in the midst of our pain we have to encourage ourselves. :)

I will pray for you and your son. I know it is difficult. I had to put my own teenage son into the hospital and then into a residential program for a year.

God will give you the strength to get through this.
May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I wish I could send him to a treatment program, but they are way beyond my means. I have contacted our local Interface program, I'm just waiting for a call back. I appreciate all the prayers. More prayer more power!! Thanks guys.

today my son will be enrolled in Gateway school which is a school run by the sheriff's department, and of course educators. I have kept him busy by allowing him to paint his own room. Thank God he is allot like me were details are essential, so it has taken him over 5 days to paint his room and now he will start school next week. I got him enrolled with a christian counselor he will see him every Friday and PDAT meetings. These meetings are like NA but for teens only. So far so good. I know he has been sober these last two weeks because he has not been so rude to me. Thank you all for your prayers. :P

Praise God! It sounds like things are moving in the right direction. Keep praying, and be bold.
