Good Bible for woman who does not like to read the Bible?

Postby rdsmith3 » Sat Nov 29, 2008 1:34 pm

Do any women have any experience with this bible:

or maybe this one

My wife does not like to read the Bible, and I am trying to find one that might be helpful for her.

Recommendations from women are greatly appreciated.
May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Sorry RD, I have not heard anything about either one.

There is a great book I am reading right now called 40 Days Living The Jesus Creed by Scot McKnight. It is pretty awesome and based on Mark 12:29-31. It requires inner reflection of who you think God is, loving yourself, and how to love others.

Anything by Beth Moore is wonderful too. Praying God's Word , Believing God, and The Beloved Disciple.

I couldn't get the links to work.

Which translation - publisher - edition were you considering?

She specifically requested a bible.

The first link is for:
The Power of a Praying Woman Bible: Prayer and Study Helps
Stormie Omartian

Millions of readers have followed Stormie Omartian into a more meaningful prayer life through books such as The Power of a Praying Wife and The Power of a Praying Woman, and now they can walk with her into a deeper relationship with the Scriptures as well. This personal study Bible includes the complete NIV text.

The second link is for:
Women's Devotional Bible
Zondervan

Written for women by women, the new edition of the Women’s Devotional Bible, offers a fresh perspective on God’s Word through a year’s worth of relevant, engaging devotions from authors like Lynne Hybels, Anne Graham Lotz, Joni Eareckson Tada and more.

Both are the NIV translation.
May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ah, I'm sorry. I didn't realize she had requested an actual bible to read.
I've been using one called Sanctuary - A Devotional Bible for Women that I like a great deal. It is a NLT version, so even easier to read than an NIV. And, it has great devotionals woven throughout for extra thought each day. At the beginning of each book of The Bible it explains the author, date written, summary and theme.

Also, I picked up another book this past year called The Divine Mentor by Wayne Cordeiro. This provides an excellent daily reading plan as well as a guideline for journaling that walks you through learning to listen to The Holy Spirit.
