Does anyone have suggestions on help for caring for elderly parents? My parents are 90 and 82, still live in their own home, won't allow much paid help (they have a gardener), but can clearly afford it. I am having to do more and more for them but it is difficult balance to not make them feel like children. Any good resources out there?

I'm sorry, I have not heard of anything much on this topic.
My MIL is the same and lives 7 hours from us. Stays alone in her house with
her 110-pound rottweiler baby.

What we have done is discuss with her about the need to have her move back
to the Chicago area, if her health declines and/or the dog dies. She knows,
but is stubbornly independent. When my FIL could no longer drive, my husband
had to call the local police department to have him stopped, and unfortunately
have his license taken away from him. He was a danger to my MIL and to
other people on the road, and drove very irratically.

My 76 year old MIL is in the end stages of cancer. We got her to move to an independent living retirement community (with asssisted living and nursing home divisions) several years ago. She wasn't happy about having to give up her house, but did see over time that she wasn't keeping up with things.

My 82 year mother is still by herself in her house and is still resisting getting any help (when she can avoid it). We are trying to gently work on her, but I don't know whether it will sink in without some further problem cropping up where she just can't stay on her own.
