This past week the Growthtrac sites were the subject of an (Denial of Service) attack
from many computers across the country, causing our sites do go "down".
If you want a more in depth explanation, please see this.
If you had access prior to this week, and now you don't have access (getting "403" errors),
chances are your IP address was traced to one of these "offending" computers--
and we have blocked access to your computer(s).
Here's what you need to know:
>> 1
Usually these attacks are caused by virus-like activity on your computer.
Please scan your computer(s) with a good virus program. We suggest AVG.
You can download a free, trial copy of AVG here.
NOTE You may have issues with all of your computers-- for example, you may notice
that none of your home computers can access Growthtrac -- that's because all of these
computers share the same IP address. You will need to scan each of these computers.
>> 2
After you have scanned and repaired your computer(s), please identify your IP address.
to do that, please go to this site: http://www.whatismyip.com/
And write down your IP address
>> 3
Send an email to contact@growthtrac.com
In that email note your IP address and indicate that you would
like your computer(s) un-blocked.
>> 4
We will evaluate each request on a case-by-case basis.
NOTE If we un-block your computer and later see the same "attack" behavior,
we may block your computer again.
Thanks for your understanding.
Our goal is to give you free, convenient access to our sites -- and at the
same time provide reasonable security to our web properties.
