JOS 15:13-15
Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, "Are you for us or for our enemies?"

"Neither," he replied, "but as commander of the army of the LORD I have now come." Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, "What message does my Lord have for his servant?"

The commander of the LORD's army replied, "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy." And Joshua did so.

I have no answer.

Here are some ideas, though:

* Angels usually asked people not to be afraid & seemed to reject worship (as in falling to the ground in reverence, etc.)

*Jesus never rejected worship. He was always pointing to the Gospel, pointing to the Father, etc., but He did not turn worship away when it came.

*Some of the verses where Abram/Abraham was hearing from Heavenly messengers have him calling them "Lord", which is no big deal, Sarah called Abraham Lord after all :;): ... But, sometimes it seems like he's "entertaining angels", and sometimes it seems like the Father/Son/Spirit is there with him, in a form he can see.

* You might think of Michael the Archangel... but, unless there are words or a focus we're not told, about exactly where that reverence was directed, it seems like he's worshipping the messenger... which would only be permissible if it were God Himself there... the Son, perhaps.

Oh, well, just some thoughts. :;):
