If one member of a Husband & Wife team has an affair, should they continue to lead thier LifeGroup or Bible Study?

I believe they ( he or she ) should step aside. The length of time would be defined by the church and/or group as part of their restoration process.

I believe the couple should step aside, but remain in the group. Under the circumstances with anyone in leadership, there needs to be a time of healing, a time to seek Christian counseling. One cannot lead and the other step aside. Reason is, there will need to be a concentration on both of their parts to restore the marriage. That needs to be their focus, not the group. The group still needs to surround them with the love of Christ, encourage them and hold them accountable toward restoration. This can be a year to two
year process for most couples.

A true leader would come to the conclusion without the need for the church to get involved. Holding onto leadership when you are injured is not thinking clearly. Often after the intial shock of the affair wares off, there is a false restoration which the injured party may place to much weight.

Only to have the false restoration come apart while leading a LifeGroup or Bible Study would be a dis-service to all.
